Hudson?, *Jane

All Notes Below found at the Online Genealogy Report of the Descendants of John McKissack, prepared by David McKissack (As of June 23, 2003 this report is no longer available online):

1. Some Family Group Sheets list Jane's maiden name as "Hudson." Others list her as a "Knox." We've found nothing to support either. Nevertheless, Angela Harrell, a Stewart descendant wrote the authors that "My Aunt, Margaret Wilorene Stewart, had part of the Stewart Family Bible....Jane Hudson is mentioned in the Stewart Bible."

2. On a deed dated December 29, 1807 under John McKissack Sr., Jane made her mark, so she was probably illiterate.

3. Loose papers in John McKissack Sr estate -- December 30, 1815 -- Jane makes her mark on a receipt showing she received the items stipulated in John's will -- one bay mare, sow & pigs, etc.

4. Loose papers of John McKissack Sr's estate -- Receipt dated Jan. 12, 1816 -- Green (?) Wynse signs for 50 acres of land purchased from JANE McKissack. Receives 50 dollars from executors of estate from the account "of the estate of John McKisic dec'd in part for fifty acres of land purchased from the widow of the said John McKisic." Can't figure this out unless Jane and Green Wynse bartered for the land and agreed he'd receive 50 dollars in cash once she had the money. Maybe she moved in with one of her children after selling her 50 acres.

5. John McKissack Sr's will left Jane a slave Lucinda to wait on her. The estate papers indicate that by 1819 the slave Lucinda was sold and the heirs all received a share of her selling price. Does this indicate Jane is dead by 1819?
