Smith, *Samuel Dana

Samuel's family is enumerated in the 1830 Huron Co., Ohio Census (Vermillion Twp) as follows:
~ two white males under age 5
~ one white male age 20-30
~ one white female age 10-15
~ one white female age 15-20

NOTE: He is listed as "S. D. Smith" on page 350. If this census is correct, then the birthdate for Ann P. Smith is wrong (if she is the female age 15-20. I'm not sure who the other female could be. Perhaps a sister of Samuel's or Ann's? Another interesting note is that there is a Tucker listed on the previous census page, but it's hard to make out his first name. Since George Tucker, husband of Samuel's daughter Harriet, is listed on Samuel's will, I assume George & Harriet were married in Erie Co. or one of the surrounding counties... Erie Co. being formed from Huron Co. in 1838. Also, enumerated between this Tucker family and Samuel's family and listed just five dwellings from the Tuckers is a man named Horatio Perry. Samuel's third child, born in 1830, is named Horatio Perry Smith. I would say this child is likely named after this man, who was himself likely a family relative (perhaps the husband of Samuel's sister who could be living with him in this 1830 Census) as presumptious from this extract from PIONEER WOMEN OF THE WESTERN RESERVE, 1896. Pages 783-788:
"Horatio Perry came from Cleveland and settled on a farm west of Capt. Austin. He married Miss Prentiss, who died, leaving a daughter, Sophia. The second Mrs. Perry was a Miss Smith."

~ one white male under age 5 (Samuel Jr)
~ two white males age 5-10 (Horatio P. & Charles)
~ two white males age 10-15 (John & George)
~ one white male age 30-40 (Sam)
~ one white female under age 5 (Catherine)
~ one white female age 5-10 (Harriet)
~ one white female age 30-40 (Ann)
